Walnutport Veterans Memorial
Northern Lehigh Recreation secured a grant of $23,983, through the Northampton County Livable Landscapes Program - Northampton County’s Open Space Initiative. The scope of the project includes general beautification of the park, removal of overgrown trees, planting of new decorative trees, improved lighting, and improved access to the memorial.
Angelo Scarselletti Amphitheater
In working with the local 150th and Beyond Committee, we received a Department of Conservation and Natural Resources grant and have a total of approx. $70,000 to construct an amphitheater in Victory Park. This will lead to a summer concert series for all residents to enjoy. There have been a few hurdles to overcome but plans are currently being finalized with anticipated construction taking place in 2019!
Welcome Center
In working with the Venture Group, the D&L and the Chamber of Commerce, we are continuing to make major improvements to the Trailhead. Stop by our new Slatington Trailhead Welcome Center Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00am - 2:00pm and get some Scoopendorfs Ice Cream, coupons to local business, trail maps, and more. Make sure to stop down with your child on April 21, 2019 between 10:00am -12:00pm for our Easter Egg painting party. Happy Hiking!
Victory Park Restroom
In November of 2018 we were awarded a $50,000 grant to complete a renovation project for the restrooms in Victory Park. We are at the beginning stages of this project and are planning construction for the Spring of 2020.
Community Center
Do YOU want this amazing new facility for you, your children and your family to enjoy?! We all know that a community center would be a hub of activity including quality senior programs, before and after school programs, open gym time, summer camps, music classes, art classes, cooking classes and more! A Feasibility Study has been completed and plans are underway. Supporting this project is easy. Simply call your local municipality and let them know that you want this built for you and your family to enjoy.
Pavilion Rentals
Looking for a place to hold your next birthday party, family reunion, or just weekend get-together? Rent a pavilion in one of Northern Lehigh’s beautiful parks and enjoy all the space and amenities around it! To reserve a pavilion, please contact the municipality directly.
Past Successes
The trailhead mulch beds, new signage, bike racks along Main street and more were completed in 2018 as small beautification projects as we aim to enhance the overall aesthetics of the area. We would also like to thank and recognize the Women’s Club of Slatington for maintaining many of the flower beds around town!
